AMENTA&CO
Church Street Market
Orlando, Florida
Mr. Amenta collaborated with Morris/Aubrey Architects on the design of the 175,000 square feet of entertainment and active lifestyle oriented multi-level shopping and restaurants located next to Church Street Station. Mr. Amenta authored the merchandise concept and allocated the tenants within two levels, often the most difficult task in urban retail design, by placing restaurants on the second level and stacking parking garages with multi level access through the retail areas. |
The design of this project foreshadowed the design of Coco Walk in Coconut Grove, FL a later successful entertainment center. The exception to this being the Church Street Market offers a great public gathering space. Unlike Church Street Station, however, which draws virtually all visitors in the evening, Church Street Market appeals to the day time shopper and office worker. Jointly they attract slightly fewer visitors than Disney World and Universal Studios theme parks.
