Mr. Amenta was invited in 1987, by the Consortio Costa Smeralda to advise H.H. the Aga Khan on repositioning the Villagio Marina and la Piazzetta retail as a means to attract additional visitors to Porto Cervo and the Cervo Hotel. The marina while the quintessential Mediterranean port and destination for the "glitterati" of Milan and the Cala di Volpe, Romanizzimo and Petrizzia --- the crown jewels of Ciga hotels were experiencing only short-term visits for a 13 week season.

His collaborated with efforts with Don Ohlson of Sasaki were coordinated by Enzo Satta, director of architecture and urban design.
Costa Smeralda is 3,000 hectares (11,000 acres) one of the seminal resort developments originating in the mid 1962 and has influenced the modern resorts throughout the world
