AMENTA&CO
The Shops at Atlas Park Phase I
Glendale, New York
In 2001 Amenta & Co. conceived an adaptive reuse of Atlas Terminals, a 20-acre 1.0 million square foot 80-year old industrial park. Phase 1 is 400,000 square feet, New York City’s first lifestyle shopping center and office park. Amenta & Co. provided market, financial and physical feasibility: identified an underserved market of 42,000 residential families with annual incomes above $ 100,000; retail sales potential above $800 per square foot and configured the design to surround a 2.5-acre park as the focus for a mixed-use campus.
